Trade resident since 1993, Steve Thomas's big break came from a most unlikely source.
Since coming to London from Cardiff in 1987, Steve had been avidly collecting records and obscure mixes for some time. A regular club-goer at the infamous Shoom, he soon secured a residency at the groundbreaking Labyrinth in Dalston, East London.
But it wasn't until a very smashed Malcolm Duffy came his way that Steve really struck gold. Malcolm and Trade's Laurence Malice were at Labyrinth one night, and Malcolm was drunk, too drunk to play in Laurence's opinion, so Steve was asked to step in. Steve played, rocked the joint, and was offered a residency at Trade the next week playing the 7-9 slot, a post he has held for the last eight years.

Steve is still a firm favourite at Trade, but his appeal has spread and spread since then, resulting in gigs throughout the UK and worldwide. UK guest spots have included Cream, Sundissential, Vague, BugJam (10,000 people), Ministry Of Sound, and another weekly residency at DTPM. Worldwide, he has been resident for Trade in Ibiza at Privilege (formerly Ku), in Japan for a Trade tour, (which saw clubbers crying with delight when they saw him), a US Tour, a South African Tour, all alongside regular gigs in Europe.

One of Steve's highlights has to be his residency alongside Danny Tenaglia at Twilo in New York. This came about via Trade, who's DJs played in the second room…all except Steve. It is still the ONLY person EVER to play a two hour prime time slot in the middle of Tenaglia's set, not once but every time he played there.

Steve's musical style is based around house, techno and his trademark hard house sound. But what puts him ahead is he naturally knows what records to play when. He is a complete perfectionist, recently voted in the Top 100 DJ's by DJ Magazine.

Besides his DJ-ing, Steve has set up a new record label Casa Dura and is a partner in the hugely successful Tripoli Trax, which has just celebrated it's 75th release by issuing a Tripoli Trax Allstars EP, which featured first rate tracks from all the longstanding members of the label (DJ Ziad, Pete Wardman, Mark Kavanagh, KGB, the Knuckleheadz and of course Mr Thomas). Steve releases his tracks under guises such as 'The Experts', 'Fruitloop' and 'N.O.K' as well as under his own name. Recently he has been working on tracks for another successful label; Tinrib Recordings, alongside Steve Hill and The Captain, producing adrenaline pumping tracks like 'The Leader' and 'What is Love.' He has remixed hundreds of other singles including records that charted in the UK Top 10, Tall Paul - Rok Da House for one. (Please call for a complete discography). Steve also compiled and mixed three of the Trade Compilation Albums (both selling over 30,000) and 'The best of Tripoli Trax' (selling over 35,000)

Steve was 'DJ of the Month' in Muzik (Sept 1998), has played live on Kiss FM and on Danny Rampling's show on Radio One and has a forthcoming Essential Mix. Overall Steve is one of the finest DJs that the dance music scene has ever had the opportunity to experience. He has proved himself to the world, through his determination and insatiable drive and he continues his saga by tearing the roof of clubs across the country and across the globe.
